4 1/2 cups pork , cut in 1 inch cubes
3 tablespoons lard or 3 tablespoons shortening
2 cups onions , sliced
3 tablespoons sweet Hungarian paprika
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons caraway seeds
1 garlic clove , crushed
3 1/2 cups sauerkraut , rinsed and drained
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon flour

Instructions

1.Heat lard or shortening in a large pot.
2.Add onions and saute for 10 minutes or until translucent.
3.Add pork and brown on all sides.
4.Add sweet Hungarian paprika, salt, caraway seeds, and garlic. Stir well.
5.Add water and bay leaf, cover and simmer for 2 hours or until the meat is tender.
6.Add sauerkraut and cook for another 15 minutes.
7.Mix flour and sour cream together. Add to the pot and stir well until the sauce thickens and creamy.
