Ingredients

6 large green peppers
1 lb ground beef
1/3 cup chopped onion
3 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 minced garlic clove
1 lb chopped fresh tomato
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup uncooked brown rice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese ( divided )
1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2.Cut off the tops of the green peppers and remove the seeds and membranes from them.
3.In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion until the beef is no longer pink.
4.Add salt, pepper, seasoning salt, and minced garlic clove, and continue to cook for a couple of minutes.
5.Add chopped fresh tomato, water, uncooked brown rice, Worcestershire sauce, and sugar to the beef mixture, and stir to combine.
6.Cover the skillet and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
7.Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
8.Stuff the green peppers with the beef and rice mixture.
9.Pour enough water into a baking dish to cover the bottom of the dish, and place the stuffed peppers in it.
10.Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
11.Uncover the dish and sprinkle the remaining cheese over the peppers.
12.Bake for 5 to 10 more minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
