2 cans mushroom stems and pieces , undrained
1/2 cup water
1 cup white rice
1 small white onion , chopped
1 stick butter , cut into 4 pieces
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese ( optional )
Grandma's Rice is a delicious side dish that has been a family favorite for years. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.In a 9x13 inch baking dish, mix together the mushroom cans, water, rice, onion and garlic powder.
3.Spread the cut butter pieces evenly across the top of the mixture.
4.Bake uncovered for 60 minutes.
5.Take the dish out of the oven and sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top.
6.Return it to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes to melt the cheese.
7.Take the dish out of the oven again and let it set for 5 minutes before serving.
