Gorgeous Little Butterfly Cakes or Fairy Cakes are small, colorful, and delicately decorated cupcakes with a butterfly-shaped top. They are a classic British treat that first appeared in the 19th century and have been enjoyed by generations of families ever since. Butterfly cakes are often served with tea or coffee and can be a fun activity for kids to decorate and personalize with their favourite toppings. They can also be adapted to suit different dietary requirements, such as using gluten-free flour or coconut oil instead of butter.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.In a mixing bowl, blend together the butter, sugar, flour, eggs, and vanilla essence until smooth and creamy.
3.Pour the batter into butterfly-shaped paper cups, filling each cup about two-thirds full.
4.Bake the cakes in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
5.Allow the cakes to cool down before decorating them with buttercream frosting and crystallised rose petals or lavender flowers.

PROS

These dainty and delightful butterfly cakes are easy to make and perfect for any occasion, from children’s parties to afternoon tea.

The combination of butter, sugar, and flour creates a light and fluffy texture with a tantalizing aroma.

They can be customized with different frostings and toppings to suit your personal taste.

CONS

Butterfly cakes contain refined sugar and butter, which can be high in calories and unhealthy if consumed excessively.

They may not be suitable for people with gluten or lactose intolerance.

HEALTH & BENEFITS

Butterfly cakes, like most desserts, are not particularly healthy as they contain sugar and butter, which are high in calories.
However, they can provide a temporary energy boost and a sense of pleasure and happiness when consumed in moderation.
Crystallised rose petals or lavender flowers could add flavour and potential health benefits as they are rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.
