Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
2.In a medium bowl, whisk together the cake flour, ¼ cup granulated sugar, and salt. Set aside.
3.In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs on medium-high speed for 5 minutes until thick and pale.
4.Add in the remaining ¼ cup granulated sugar and beat for another 2 minutes.
5.Mix in the vanilla extract, vegetable oil, and 2 tablespoons almond liqueur.
6.Fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
7.Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
8.Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

10.In a small saucepan, combine the instant coffee granules, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ½ cup water, and ¼ cup granulated sugar.
11.Heat until the sugar is dissolved, then remove from heat and let cool.
12.In a separate heatproof bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over 2 tablespoons of cold water and let sit until softened.
13.In a medium mixing bowl, beat the egg yolks on high speed until pale and fluffy.
14.In a saucepan, combine 1 cup heavy cream, milk, 3 tablespoons sugar, and salt.
15.Heat until the sugar is dissolved, then slowly pour the mixture into the egg yolks while whisking continuously.
16.Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium-low heat until thickened, whisking constantly.
17.Remove the mixture from heat and whisk in the softened gelatin until dissolved.
18.In a heatproof bowl, melt the chopped chocolate bars in a microwave for 1 minute, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
19.Stir in the almond liqueur, instant coffee granules, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
20.In a large mixing bowl, beat the remaining 1 ¼ cups heavy cream and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar on high speed until stiff peaks form.
21.Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until combined.
22.In a trifle dish, layer the cake cubes, coffee mixture, chocolate mousse, and crumbled amaretti cookies until all ingredients are used up.
23.Top with slivered almonds and chocolate-covered coffee beans.
24.Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
