6 thick slices country bread
6 sprigs fresh savory or 6 sprigs thyme
fresh ground white pepper

Instructions

1.Grate the montrachet cheese and gruyere or swiss cheese. Mince the garlic.
2.In a heavy saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.
3.Reduce heat to medium-low and add grated cheese, white wine, and Dijon mustard. Stir continuously until cheese is melted.
4.Add marc de bourgogne or cognac and stir well.
5.Preheat the broiler. Toast the bread slices and rub them with the remaining garlic clove.
6.Pour the fondue into a preheated fondue pot or serving dish and sprinkle ground white pepper on top. Serve with toasted bread and sprigs of fresh savory or thyme.
