Ingredients

1/2 pound prawns , peeled and deveined
sea salt to taste
1/2 cup grated coconut
4 Kashmiri chile peppers
1 tablespoon coriander seeds
3 cloves garlic , peeled
5 peppercorns
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 small onion , sliced
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 1/2 cups water , or as needed
3 ounces okra ( bindhi ) , cut into thirds
3 pieces kokum ( fruit from the mangosteen family )

Instructions

1.Clean the prawns and sprinkle them with sea salt. Set aside.

3.Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and saute until golden brown.
4.Add the ground masala paste and saute for 5 minutes.
5.Add the ground turmeric and saute for another minute.
6.Add the prawns to the skillet and saute for 2-3 minutes, until they turn pink.
7.Add the water as needed to make a curry.
8.Add the okra and kokum to the curry.
9.Cover and simmer until the okra is tender and the flavors have melded, about 10-15 minutes.
10.Serve hot with steamed rice or bread.
