Ingredients

90 g butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup golden syrup
1 1/3 cups plain flour
3/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Go nuts about my Gingernuts are a classic biscuit that are perfect for dunking in a cup of tea or coffee. They are crunchy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. With a perfect balance of sweetness and spiciness, these biscuits are a treat to have any time of the day. The recipe makes a large batch, so it's perfect for sharing with friends and family.

Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 180C/160C/fan/gas 4
2.Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup together in a medium pan, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
3.Remove the pan from the heat and sift in the flour, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
4.Stir the mixture until well combined and cool for 10 minutes.
5.Line two baking trays with baking parchment.
6.Wet your hands and roll walnut-sized balls of the mixture. Place them on the lined trays, spaced well apart to allow for spreading.
7.Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown
8.Leave on the trays for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and let them cool.
