Ingredients

300 g self raising flour
1 pinch salt
3 teaspoons ground ginger
100 g caster sugar
50 g margarine
3 tablespoons golden syrup
4 tablespoons milk
currants
glace cherries

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2.Mix the flour, salt and ginger together in a large mixing bowl.
3.Rub the margarine into the dry mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs.
4.Add the caster sugar and mix.
5.Stir in the golden syrup and milk.
6.Knead the dough until it comes together and is smooth.
7.Roll out the dough until it's about 1 cm thick.
8.Use a gingerbread man-shaped cutter to cut out the gingerbread blokes.
9.Decorate with currants and glace cherries as you desire.
10.Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
11.Once done let them cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes before you transfer to a wire rack to cool down completely.
