German Quark Crumb Bars are a traditional dessert in Germany, often enjoyed with a cup of coffee or tea. These bars have a sweet and tangy taste, with a crumbly texture and a flaky crust. Quark, a type of fresh dairy cheese, is a key ingredient in these bars and gives them a rich and creamy flavor. Dried cherries (or blueberries/raisins) add a fruity and slightly tart flavor to balance out the sweetness. These bars are perfect for sharing with friends and family, or for indulging in as a special treat.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

3.Stir in the dried cherries (or blueberries/raisins) and set aside.
4.In a large bowl, beat the butter and 3/4 cup of sugar together until light and fluffy.
5.Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 1 egg, and salt, and beat until well combined.
6.Gradually stir in the flour until a crumbly dough forms.
