Ingredients

1 1/2 kg fresh sweet red plums , pitted , cut into quarters
400 g butter
300 g granulated sugar
4 eggs
600 g all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 lemon , juice of
80 g sliced almonds , toasted
powdered sugar , for garnish
German Plum Coffee Cake, known as Pflaumenkuchen in Germany, is a traditional dessert that is commonly enjoyed in the summertime when plums are at their peak. The cake is made with fresh sweet red plums that create a beautiful contrast against the golden brown batter. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter.
2.In a bowl, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and beat well.
3.In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Gradually add this mixture into the butter and eggs mixture, stirring until it turns into a smooth batter.
4.Spoon the batter onto the prepared pan and spread evenly. Arrange the plum quarters on top of the batter while keeping the skin side up. Squeeze the lemon juice over the plum quarters and sprinkle with toasted almonds.
5.Bake the cake for 45 to 55 minutes until it's golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool it on a rack.
6.Dust powdered sugar over the cake and serve.
