Ingredients

1/2 lb day-old white bread , cut into 10 slices
1 cup milk , warmed
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 medium onion , chopped
3 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 tablespoons finely chopped parsley

Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2.Arrange the slices of bread in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for about 8-10 minutes or until lightly toasted.

9.Meanwhile, shape the bread mixture into 8 evenly-sized dumplings.
10.Once the water is boiling, carefully drop the dumplings into the pot and reduce the heat to a simmer.
11.Cook the dumplings for about 20-25 minutes or until they float to the surface.
