1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté 2-3 minutes until onions are translucent.
3.Add ground beef to skillet, breaking into small pieces until browned.
4.Drain any excess oil from skillet.
5.Add whole tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, pepper, basil, bay leaf, and oregano. Stir well and let simmer for 30 minutes.
6.In a large pot, cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8-10 minutes or until al dente.
7.In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of mozzarella cheese, and 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese.
8.To assemble lasagna, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
9.Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the meat sauce, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers until all ingredients have been used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce over the top.
10.Add remaining mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese over the top of the lasagna.
11.Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and lasagna is heated through.
12.Remove foil and cook for an additional 25-30 minutes until cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
13.Let lasagna sit for 10-15 minutes before serving.
