Fudgy Low-Fat Brownies are a healthier twist on a classic American dessert. These brownies use unsweetened applesauce to replace some of the fat that's typically found in brownies, without sacrificing their fudgy texture. Additionally, substituting the sugar with a no-calorie sweetener like Splenda can greatly reduce the overall calorie content of the recipe. These brownies are perfect for those who are health-conscious, counting calories, or just looking to satisfy their sweet tooth in a slightly more guilt-free way. Pair them with a cold glass of milk, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and enjoy!

Instructions

.Preheat oven to 350°F.
.Melt the margarine in a saucepan on medium heat, remove from heat, and stir in the cocoa powder.
.Add the sugar, egg, applesauce, and vanilla to the saucepan, mixing until well combined.
.In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
.Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in the saucepan, stirring until well combined.
.Pour the batter into a greased 8x8 inch pan.
.Bake for 22-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out with a few moist crumbs.
.Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before removing and slicing into squares.
