Ingredients

2/3 cup walnuts or 2/3 cup pecans
1/2 cup butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
3/4 3/4 cup dates ( or a combination of all three ) or 3/4 cup fig ( or a combination of all three )

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350F.

9.Grease a baking dish and press the dough in evenly.
10.Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
11.Cool the bars before slicing them into bars or biscotti.
