1 small onion , sliced
1/2 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup tomato ketchup
1/4 lb bacon , sliced ( optional )

Instructions

4.In a separate bowl, combine cider vinegar, prepared mustard, brown sugar, molasses, and ketchup together. Set aside.
5.Add the vinegar mixture to the simmering pot of beans.
6.If using bacon, sauté it until crispy and add to the pot. Add pepper to taste.
7.Cover the pot and bake at 300F (149C) for 4-5 hours until the beans are tender, checking that they do not dry out.
