Fried tofu with tangy chilli dressing is a popular vegan dish that originated from Southeast Asia. The dish is often served as an appetizer or as a side dish to a larger meal. This dish has become increasingly popular in other parts of the world and can now be found in many vegan and Asian cuisine restaurants. Try it out at home to enjoy a vegan take on a classic dish.

Instructions

1.Drain the tofu from its packaging and wrap it in a clean dishcloth or paper towel. Place a heavy object on top of it to squeeze out excess water, doing this for 30 minutes.
2.Once the tofu is dry, slice it into 1 cm thick pieces, then set aside.
3.In a shallow dish, mix the flour with a pinch of salt. Coat each side of the tofu slices with the flour mixture.
4.Heat up 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pan over a medium-high heat. Shallow fry each side of the tofu slices until golden brown, or around 2-3 minutes on each side.
5.In a mixing bowl, mix together the rice wine vinegar, garlic, salt, sugar, and ground chilli paste. Add in 2 tablespoons of water and mix until the dressing is smooth.
6.Serve the fried tofu with the tangy chilli dressing drizzled on top.
