Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs lean round steak or 1 1/2 lbs flank steaks
4 teaspoons minced suet
1 onion , finely minced

Forfar bridies are a traditional Scottish pastry that originated in the town of Forfar in the county of Angus. They are made from pastry dough filled with minced steak, onion, and suet, and then baked until golden brown. Bridies are usually eaten as a meal on their own or as a snack. They are perfect for a cold winter day and can be served with a side salad or vegetables.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F.
2.Cut the steak into small pieces.
3.Add suet and onion to the meat and mix well.
4.Roll the pastry dough into 8 square shapes.
5.Add the meat mixture onto one side of each square.
6.Fold the other half of the pastry over and seal the edges.
7.Make 3 slits on the top of each bridie.
8.Bake for 45 mins or until golden brown.
9.Serve hot.

PROS

Forfar bridies are delicious and easy to make.
They also make a filling main dish.

CONS

Bridies may not be suitable for vegetarians or those who are allergic to wheat or gluten.
