Ingredients

2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons soft butter or 2 tablespoons margarine ( real butter is best )
1 teaspoon maple extract

Instructions

1.Combine brown sugar and flour in a 2qt saucepan.
2.Stir in the milk, and cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Stir frequently, making sure the mixture doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan.
3.Remove from heat and briskly stir in the butter and maple extract.
4.Let the spread cool before serving. It will thicken as it cools.
