Ingredients

1 kg fish fillet , cut into cubes
salt
15 ml lemon juice
120 g yoghurt
1 tablespoon vinegar
15 g garam masala
10 g cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon carom seeds
5 teaspoons red chili powder
10 g garlic paste
oil or butter , for basting
Fish tikkas are a popular Indian appetiser that are typically made using boneless fish such as cod, tilapia or salmon. In this recipe, we use cubed fish fillets that are marinated in a mixture of yoghurt and spices and grilled to perfection. The flavours of the spices used in this recipe complement the mild flavour of the fish, resulting in a delicious and healthy dish that is perfect for any dinner party. You can serve these fish tikkas as an appetiser or as a main course with rice or naan bread.

Instructions

1.Wash the fish cubes with salt and lemon juice and pat dry with a paper towel.
2.In a separate bowl, mix the yoghurt, vinegar, garam masala, cumin powder, carom seeds, red chili powder, and garlic paste.
3.Pour the yoghurt mixture over the fish and mix it well to ensure that the fish is coated evenly.
4.Let the marinated fish rest for at least 30 minutes before proceeding.
5.Preheat the oven to 220°C.
6.Skewer the fish cubes and baste with oil or butter.
7.Place in the oven and cook for 10-15 minutes, turning once halfway through, or until the fish is cooked through.
8.Remove from skewers and serve hot with green chutney and lemon wedges.
