Ingredients

1 kg kingfish , washed
4 onions , peeled , washed and finely chopped
4 cloves garlic , peeled , washed and chopped finely
1 inch ginger , peeled and chopped
1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves , washed and chopped
10 -12 cloves
1/2 inch cinnamon stick
6 black peppercorns
1 tablespoon cumin seed
1 tablespoon coriander seed
1 tablespoon turmeric powder
6 red chilies
3 tomatoes , washed , peeled and finely chopped
salt
4 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup coconut milk

Instructions

1.In a pan, dry-roast the cloves, cinnamon, peppercorns, cumin seeds and coriander seeds until fragrant.
2.Grind the roasted spices and red chilies into a fine powder.
3.Heat oil in a deep pan, add onions and sauté until golden brown.
4.Add garlic, ginger and tomatoes and cook until tomatoes are soft.
5.Add the spice powder, turmeric and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
6.Add the fish pieces and cook for 5-6 minutes on medium heat.
7.Add coconut milk and simmer for a few more minutes until the gravy thickens.
8.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or bread.
