Ingredients

3 cups water
1 cinnamon stick
1 whole clove
1 inch piece fresh gingerroot ( cracked )
1/2 tablespoon anise seed
sugar
toasted walnuts
toasted pine nuts

Instructions

1.In a medium saucepan, bring the water, cinnamon stick, clove, ginger root, and anise seed to a boil.
2.Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
3.Remove the pan from the heat and let it steep for another 30 minutes.
4.Strain the spices from the liquid and discard the solids.
5.Add sugar to taste.
6.Pour the drink into individual cups and garnish with toasted walnuts and pine nuts.
