Ingredients

1 large onion , chopped
1 lb extra lean ground beef
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 cups water

1/2 - 1 cup butter ( melted )
1 egg
1/2 cup milk ( skim milk if you like )
1 package frozen phyllo pastry sheet ( , thawed overnight )

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until it turns golden in color.
3.Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, stirring occasionally.

5.Add 1 1/2 cups of water to the skillet and let it simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated.

7.In a small bowl, beat the egg and milk together.
8.Take one sheet of phyllo pastry and brush it with butter, then lay another sheet on top and brush it with butter too.
9.Repeat this process until you have 6 layers of phyllo pastry.
10.Pour the meat mixture onto the phyllo pastry, spreading it out evenly.
11.Roll the pastry up into a log.
12.Brush the log generously with melted butter.
13.Cut the log into slices and place them on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
14.Brush the slices with more melted butter.
15.Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry turns golden in color.
