Ingredients

2 cups sunflower seeds
1 head rue ( Tena Adam ) or 1 head gingerroot ( peeled , sliced )
honey ( as required ) or sugar ( as required )
4 cups water

Instructions

1.Rinse the sunflower seeds in cold running water and place them in a large bowl.
2.Add enough water to cover the seeds, and soak them for 6-8 hours, or overnight.
3.Drain off the soaking water, rinse the seeds again in cold water, and put them into a blender with 4 cups of water.
4.Blend the mixture until the seeds are finely ground.
5.Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher.
6.Add honey or sugar to taste.
7.Slice the gingerroot and add it to the pitcher, or use rue if you prefer a more bitter taste.
8.Stir everything together and serve over ice.
