Ingredients

1/2 cup finely minced onion
2 minced garlic cloves

3 tablespoons butter

1 cup beef broth
3 tablespoons dry sherry
3/4 cup light cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon maggi seasoning
1/4 cup chopped fresh dill ( optional )

Instructions

1.In a skillet, melt 3 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, cook until softened for 5 minutes.
2.Mix bread crumbs and buttermilk in a large bowl. Add onion, garlic, ground round, ground veal, ground pork, salt, pepper, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, and eggs to the bowl. Mix well and shape into 1 inch balls.
3.In a skillet, heat bacon fat over medium-high heat. Add meatballs and cook, constantly stirring, until cooked through and browned on the outside for 10-15 minutes. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside.
4.Melt 3 tablespoon butter in the same skillet. Whisk in flour stirring constantly, cook for 2 minutes. Add beef broth, stir until sauce thickens. Add dry sherry, light cream, salt, black pepper, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, maggi seasoning, and dill (optional). Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until well blended. Add meatballs, stir to coat. Simmer until meatballs are heated through.
