Ingredients

8 ounces self raising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch salt

2 ounces soft brown sugar
8 tablespoons black treacle
2 eggs , beaten and mixed with milk to make 1/2 pint
4 ounces raisins ( optional )

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2.Grease and flour a 9-inch loaf pan.

5.Add treacle and stir until combined. Remove from heat.
6.Gradually stir egg mixture into the melted butter mixture.

9.Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
