Taco salad is a popular dish that's often served at potlucks, family gatherings and casual get-togethers. This version of taco salad is perfect for busy nights when you don't have time to make tacos from scratch. It's loaded with all the delicious toppings you'd expect in a taco, like seasoned hamburger, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and salsa. The best part? Instead of using taco shells, you crush up tortilla chips and mix them into the salad for a satisfying crunch.

Instructions

1.Cook the hamburger in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
2.Add the taco seasoning mix and water to the skillet and stir until combined. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
3.In a large bowl, mix together the shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes and diced onions (if using).
4.Crush the tortilla chips and add them to the bowl.
5.Add the cooked hamburger and shredded cheese to the bowl and gently mix everything together.
6.Serve the taco salad with salsa and sour cream (if using) on the side.
