4 tablespoons beef bouillon
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
salt , to taste
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 cups beef broth
2 cups water
1 -2 sourdough bread
2 ounces monterey jack cheese
2 ounces cheddar cheese

Instructions

1.Cut the onions into thin, even slices.
2.In a large pot, melt the margarine over medium heat.
3.Add the onions to the melted margarine and stir to coat them.
4.Cook the onions in the margarine until they are soft and caramelized, stirring occasionally.
5.Add the minced garlic, beef bouillon, Worcestershire sauce and salt to the pot and stir.
6.Sprinkle the flour and sugar over the onions and stir to combine.
7.Add the beef broth and water to the pot and stir to combine.
8.Bring the soup to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
9.Preheat the broiler.
10.Ladle the soup into oven-safe bowls or crocks.
11.Slice the sourdough bread into thin pieces and place them on top of the soup in the bowls.
12.Sprinkle the grated cheeses over the bread and soup.
13.Place the bowls on a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
