Dolmades are a popular dish in Mediterranean countries like Greece, Turkey, and Lebanon. They are typically served as an appetizer or side dish, often enjoyed with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, tzatziki, or yogurt sauce. Traditionally, dolmades are made with ground beef and rice, rolled inside freshly picked grape leaves. There are many variations of dolmades that can be made with different fillings such as vegetarian, seafood, or quinoa stuffing.

Instructions

.Rinse the grape leaves in cool water and cut off the stems.
.In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, chopped onion, white rice, egg, minced mint leaves, chopped parsley, and minced fresh dill.
.Add lemon juice, salt, pepper, and mix all the ingredients together.
.Place one grape leaf, shiny side down, on a work surface.
.Put one heaping teaspoon of the meat mixture in the center of the leaf and fold the sides of the leaf over the filling.
.Fold the bottom of the leaf up over the filling and continue to roll tightly until the leaf is completely wrapped around the filling. Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
.Grease a baking dish or a Dutch oven with butter or olive oil and layer the dolmades in a single layer.
.Add chicken broth to cover dolmades and bring it to simmer.
.Cover and simmer on low heat for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
