Ingredients

1 lb firm tofu , waterpacked
vegetable oil
2 tablespoons soybean sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1 cup chicken broth or 1 cup water
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1 tablespoon oriental sesame oil , see note
4 garlic cloves , minced

Instructions

1.Drain the water-packed tofu and cut it into 1-inch cubes.
2.In a frying pan, heat enough vegetable oil to cover the tofu cubes and fry the cubes until they turn golden brown on all sides.
3.In another pan, combine soybean sauce, sugar, chicken broth, and fresh ground pepper. Add garlic minced and heat the mixture until it begins to boil.
4.Add the golden brown tofu cubes to the mixture and simmer until the sauce is absorbed by the tofu cubes.
5.Drizzle oriental sesame oil onto the tofu cubes before serving.
