Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup butter , firm , but not hard
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1/2 cup heavy cream
pearl sugar or crushed sugar cube , for topping
Danish Sugar Pretzels (Kringler) are a Danish pastry with a crispy outer layer and a soft and tender interior. They are usually eaten for breakfast or as a dessert in Denmark. These pretzels are made with all-purpose flour, butter, baking powder, egg, heavy cream and pearl sugar or crushed sugar cube for topping. They are easy to make and delicious to eat.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2.In a mixing bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Add butter and mix until crumbly.
3.Add egg and heavy cream and continue mixing until you have a smooth dough. Do not overmix.
4.Divide the dough into two portions. Roll out each to a thickness of 1/4 inch (1/2 cm) and cut into shapes.
5.Brush each piece with a beaten egg and sprinkle with pearl sugar or crushed sugar cube.
6.Bake for 13-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.
