1 egg yolk | |
1/2 cup butter | |
1 cup water | |
1 teaspoon almond extract | |

1. | Preheat oven to 375°F. |
2. | In a mixing bowl, cut 1/2 cup butter into 1 cup flour until crumbly. |
3. | Stir in 2 tbsp water until well blended. |
4. | Shape dough into a ball and chill for 30 minutes. |
5. | In another bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and egg yolk until smooth. Set aside. |
6. | In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup water and bring to a boil. |
7. | Add almond extract and 1 cup flour, stirring constantly until mixture forms a ball. |
8. | Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes. |
9. | Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. |
10. | Spread 2/3 of the dough onto a greased baking sheet to form a wreath shape. |
11. | Spoon cream cheese mixture onto the dough and spread it evenly. |
12. | Roll out remaining dough and cut into strips. |
13. | Use the strips to make a lattice design over the cream cheese mixture. |
14. | Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. |
15. | Top with glaze, candied cherries, and toasted sliced almonds. Serve and enjoy! |
