Ingredients

1 lb Polish sausage
1 cup ketchup
curry
1 tablespoon oil
Curry Wurst is Germany's most beloved street food and has a unique history. Created in the late 1940s by a female street vendor named Herta Heuwer, who added curry powder to ketchup to make her own sauce, quickly gaining popularity in Berlin and eventually spreading throughout the country. It is a part of Germany's food culture and is often eaten with a side of French fries. Homemade Curry Wurst is a healthier take on this favorite street food and can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home.

Instructions

1.Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
2.Grill the polish sausages for 8 to 10 minutes, turning every 2 minutes, until they are charred and heated through.
3.In a small saucepan, heat oil over medium heat and add curry powder.
4.Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until fragrant. Add ketchup and cook for another 2 minutes.
5.Slice the polish sausages into bite-size pieces.
6.Serve the grill sausages with the curry ketchup dip and French fries.

PROS

Curry Wurst is a popular German fast food that is now famous around the world.
It is easy to make, and the flavors of sausage and curry ketchup marry beautifully together.
Served with crispy French fries, a homemade version is much healthier than its street food counterpart.

CONS

The sausage and French fries are high in calories and fat, so it is best to enjoy in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
Since ketchup already has added sugar, make sure to use it sparingly.

HEALTH & BENEFITS

Polish sausages are high in protein, selenium, and vitamin B12. These nutrients help in maintaining healthy blood cells, nerves, and immune system. Although curry has no significant health benefits, it contains a compound called curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. French fries are high in carbs and may not offer great nutritional value, but since they are made from potatoes, they are a good source of vitamin C and potassium.
