Ingredients

4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

4 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons fresh lard , cut into small pieces
1 1/4 cups water

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
2.Add in the butter or lard and mix until well combined.

5.Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

10.With a sharp knife, make three slashes on the top of each bread loaf.

12.Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before serving.
