Instructions

1.Mix together oatmeal and salt in a large bowl
2.Heat the milk in a pan until just before boiling
3.Pour the hot milk over the oatmeal mixture and stir well
4.Grease a large pudding basin with butter or oil
5.Pour the mixture into the greased pudding basin
6.Cover the pudding basin with a lid or some foil
7.Bring a large pot of water to boil
8.Place the pudding basin in the pot, making sure the water comes halfway up the side of the basin
9.Cover the pot with a lid and steam for 2-3 hours
10.Serve hot with cream or jam
