Crowdie-mowdie is a classic Scottish pudding that dates back to the 16th century. It is traditionally served with a savory dish, such as haggis, but can also be enjoyed on its own as a dessert. This simple pudding is made with just three ingredients - oatmeal, milk, and salt - and is steamed to create a hearty and filling dish. While it may not be the most glamorous or visually appealing dessert, it is a comforting and satisfying treat that is perfect for a cold winter's evening.

.In a bowl, mix together the oatmeal and salt.
.Gradually stir in the milk until a thick batter forms.
.Pour the batter into a greased pudding basin.
.Cover the basin with a lid or foil and secure tightly.
.Place the pudding basin on a trivet in a large pot filled with simmering water.
.Cover the pot and let the pudding steam for 2 hours, checking the water level occasionally.
