2 cups oatmeal
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
Crowdie-Mowdie is a steamed pudding made with simple ingredients commonly found in Scottish households. This traditional dish has been passed down from generation to generation and is often enjoyed during the winter months for its warming and comforting qualities. Instructions

1.In a large bowl, mix together the oatmeal and salt.
2.Gradually stir in the milk until the mixture forms a soft, pliable dough.
3.Grease a 1 litre pudding bowl and pack in the oatmeal mixture.
4.Cover with a layer of greaseproof paper and then with a sheet of foil.
5.Secure tightly with string, making a handle to lift the pudding out of the pot.
6.Place the pudding in a large pot of boiling water and steam for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
7.When ready, remove from the pot and turn out onto a plate.
8.Serve hot with cream or custard.
