Croissants are a classic French pastry that have become a popular breakfast option around the world. Traditionally, croissants are made using a yeast dough and butter that is folded and rolled multiple times to create layers. This process gives croissants their flaky and crispy texture, and makes them incredibly satisfying to bite into. While croissants are typically enjoyed plain, they can also be filled with various ingredients to make them even more satisfying.

Instructions

.In a small bowl, combine the yeast, warm water, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, 2 teaspoons of sugar, and salt.
.Add the yeast mixture, warm milk, and vegetable oil to the mixing bowl. Mix until a dough forms.
.On a floured surface, knead the dough for 10-12 minutes until smooth.
.Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
.Take the chilled butter and beat it with a rolling pin until it is pliable.
.Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface into a rectangle then place the butter in the center.
.Fold the dough over the butter then seal the edges.
.Roll out the dough into a large rectangle again then fold the dough into thirds like a letter.
.Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
.Repeat rolling and folding the dough two more times then refrigerate for another 30 minutes.
