Ingredients

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 lb boneless bottom round steak , cut in 1-inch cubes
1/4 teaspoon salt ( to taste )
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 large onion , chopped
1 red bell pepper , chopped
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 garlic cloves , minced
3 tablespoons sweet Hungarian paprika
1 teaspoon caraway seed
4 -5 small potatoes , cut in 1/2-inch rounds
2 1/2 cups beef broth ( extra strength )
1 cup water
1 cup tomato puree
sour cream ( for garnish )

Instructions

1.Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil.
2.Season the beef with salt and black pepper and cook in the skillet until browned.
3.Add in the onions and red bell peppers, cook until softened.
4.Now sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir well making sure to coat the ingredients evenly.
5.Add in garlic, paprika, and caraway seeds and cook for 2-3 minutes.
6.Place cubed potato into a slow cooker.
7.Transfer the beef mixture from the skillet to the crockpot.
8.Stir in beef broth, water, and tomato puree.
9.Season with extra salt if required.
10.Cover and let it cook on low heat for 7-8 hours or high heat for 3-4 hours.
11.Serve hot with a dollop of sour cream.
