Creme Brulee French Toast is a popular breakfast or brunch dish made by soaking challah bread in a mixture of eggs, cream, sugar and spices. Its name comes from the caramelized sugar crust on top, similar to a traditional crème brûlée dessert. This recipe puts a twist on the classic French toast by adding a layer of buttery brown sugar and honey mix to the bottom of the baking dish. The result is a decadent and rich French toast that is creamy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Serve it with fresh fruit, whipped cream, maple syrup or your favorite toppings for a satisfying breakfast treat.

Instructions

1.In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the firmly packed brown sugar and honey and stir the mixture until it is well combined.
2.Pour the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange the slices of day old challah on top of the caramel-like mixture.
3.In a large bowl, whisk together the large eggs, half-and-half, vanilla, orange syrup or orange liqueur and salt. Pour the egg mixture over the bread. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate it overnight.
4.Preheat your oven to 350°F. Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish and bake it in the oven for 35-40 minutes or until the French toast is set and golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Serve the French toast and enjoy!
