Ingredients

4 -5 lemons ( I prefer greener ones )

1 quart half-and-half
2 3/4 cups sugar
1 pint water
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Crema Di Limoncello is a traditional Italian dessert made with grain alcohol and fresh lemons. This sweet and tangy dessert is perfect for those who enjoy a simple and refreshing dessert. It's often served following a large, multi-course meal as a light and refreshing way to end the evening. This recipe makes a relatively large amount, so it's ideal for serving at large gatherings and parties.

Instructions

1.Begin by using a vegetable peeler to remove the zest from the lemons. Take care not to include the bitter white pith.
2.In a large glass jar, combine the lemon zest and grain alcohol. Seal the jar tightly and let it sit for 4-5 days in a cool, dark place.
3.After 4-5 days, strain the alcohol mixture to remove the lemon zest. Set aside.
4.In a saucepan, combine the half-and-half, sugar, water, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
5.Cool the half-and-half mixture to room temperature, then combine it with the lemon alcohol mixture.
6.Pour the mixture into an airtight bottle or jar and store in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to a month, but it's best to consume within two weeks. Serve chilled.
