1 large tomatoes , cut into 6 slices

Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine masa harina, baking soda and salt. Mix well.
2.Add in grated cheese and warm water and mix using your hands until dough is formed.
3.Let it rest for 5 minutes. Form arepas by taking a small handful of dough and forming it into a ball, then flattening it slightly into a disk shape.
4.Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add butter and fry the arepas for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
5.Take another skillet and fry ham slices until slightly crispy. Then place one slice of cheese and a slice of tomato on top of each ham slice, season with salt and pepper and let the cheese melt.
6.Cut arepas in half and spread butter on the insides of both halves. Add the cheese, tomato and ham slices to each arepa. Serve with a side of salsa.
