Ingredients

12 ounces dried salted cod fish
vegetable oil for frying
4 large potatoes , peeled and cut into very small cubes
1/2 cup olive oil
1 large onion , sliced thin
3 cloves garlic , minced
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup hot milk
1 pinch ground nutmeg
1 1/3 cups heavy cream
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2/3 cup heavy cream
1 ounce grated Parmesan cheese
Codfish with Cream is a classic Portuguese dish that is popular in many other countries. The dish consists of tender chunks of cod in a rich and creamy sauce served alongside crispy potatoes. This dish is perfect for a cozy night in or a special occasion.

Instructions

1.Soak the salted cod in water for 24 hours
2.Drain the cod from the water and pat it dry
3.Cut the cod into small pieces
4.Fry the potatoes in vegetable oil until crispy
5.In a separate pan, cook the onions and garlic until soft
6.Add in the nutmeg and butter
7.Add the flour and stir until smooth
8.Slowly add in the hot milk while stirring
9.Add in the cream and continue stirring
10.Add the cod pieces and simmer for 5-10 minutes
11.Season with salt and pepper
12.Serve hot topped with Parmesan cheese
