1 cup jam or 1 cup preserves
1 - 1 1/2 cup almonds , chopped
1 1/2 - 2 cups golden raisins
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup large crystal sugar
1 egg white

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2.In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3.In a separate large bowl, beat the sugar, oil, melted margarine, orange juice, and orange peel until well blended.
4.Beat in 3 eggs and 1 egg yolk one at a time. Stir in the vanilla.
5.Gradually stir the flour mixture into the egg mixture until well blended.
6.Mix in the chopped almonds, golden raisins, cinnamon, and crystal sugar until evenly distributed.
7.Divide the dough in half. Roll each half into a log.
8.Transfer the dough logs to a lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten each log slightly.
9.Make a shallow canal down the center of each dough log. Fill each canal with jam or preserves.
10.Beat 1 egg white lightly in a small bowl. Brush each dough log with the egg white.
11.Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake the cookies for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
12.Let the cookies cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet. Cut each log into 24 slices.
