Cinnamon-Streusel Coffee Cake is a classic baked good that is perfect for serving at breakfast or as a dessert. This recipe features a moist and tender cake base, studded with crunchy pecans and topped with a sweet and spicy cinnamon-streusel crumble. The addition of a simple glaze adds an extra touch of sweetness, making this the perfect treat to enjoy with your morning coffee or tea. Despite its indulgent flavor, this recipe is surprisingly easy to make, and requires just a few simple ingredients that you likely already have on hand.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9-inch square baking pan; line with parchment, leaving a 2-inch overhang on two sides.
2.Make the streusel: Combine flour, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cut in butter using a pastry cutter or rub in using your fingers until small to medium clumps form. Mix in 1 cup pecans.
3.Make the cake: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
4.In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat butter and granulated sugar on high until light and fluffy, 4 to 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition; mix in vanilla. With mixer on low, alternately add flour mixture in three parts and sour cream in two, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
5.Spoon half the batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle with half the streusel mixture. Repeat.
6.Bake until cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 55 to 65 minutes. Let cool in pan 20 minutes. Lift cake from pan using parchment; transfer to a wire rack.
7.Make the glaze: Mix confectioners' sugar, milk, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon until smooth. Drizzle over cake, and sprinkle with 1/2 cup pecans.
