10 whole cloves
icing sugar , sifted for dusting

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 160°C (fan-forced).
2.In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, caster sugar, and vanilla essence together until light and fluffy.
3.Sift the flour and cinnamon into the bowl, add the almond meal and mix until just combined.
4.Divide the mixture into 8 even portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then press lightly to flatten into a disc or use a mould to shape it as per your preference
5.Place each shortbread pear onto a lined baking tray and top with a clove.
6.Place the tray into the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until lightly golden brown on the edges.
7.7.Remove from the oven and let them rest before removing them from the tray.
8.Top with sifted icing sugar before serving.
