Ingredients

1 phyllo dough , thawed if previously frozen
1 egg yolk , beaten
1/2 cup melted butter , at room temperature ( for brushing phyllo dough )
1 lb blanched almond
2/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons orange blossom water
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 cup honey
3 tablespoons orange blossom water
1/4 cup melted butter , at room temperature
Cigars with Almonds and Honey is a traditional dessert from the Middle East, it is usually served during Ramadan or special celebrations. The dish consists of a crispy phyllo dough filled with a sweet mixture of almonds, sugar, cinnamon, and orange blossom water. The cigars are then drizzled with honey and more orange blossom water to add a subtle floral taste. This dessert is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth and impressing your guests with its unique flavor and elegant presentation.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.In a food processor, pulse the blanched almonds, sugar, cinnamon, and orange blossom water until the almonds are finely chopped but not yet ground to a paste.
3.Open the phyllo dough, cut the stack into 3 pieces along the length (do not cut it across). Cover the pieces you are not working with a damp towel to prevent them from drying out.
4.Brush one layer of phyllo dough with melted butter.
5.Take a small spoonful of the almond mixture and roll it into a cigar shape.
6.Place the cylinder at the bottom of the phyllo dough strip, leaving a 1-inch border at the bottom and sides. Fold the 1-inch border over the filling, then roll the dough up like a cigar.
7.Brush the finished cigar with melted butter and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8.Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo dough and almond mixture.
9.Bake for 8-12 minutes or until golden brown.
10.While the cigars are baking, combine honey and orange blossom water in a small saucepan and heat over low heat until the honey is melted.
11.Once cigars are out of the oven, drizzle honey over them and let them cool down for a couple of minutes.

CONS

Phyllo dough is not the healthiest ingredient and should be enjoyed in moderation.

The dish contains a high amount of sugar and calories.
