Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
2.In a saucepan over medium heat, mix 1 1/2 cups sugar and water. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, continuously stirring until the sugar turns brown and becomes caramel.
3.Pour the caramel mixture into a 9-inch cake pan and spread evenly over the bottom.

8.Remove the cake pan from the water bath and cool in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours.
9.To serve, run a knife around the edge of the flan and invert it onto a serving plate.
