Ingredients

1 3/4 lbs ground turkey
1 can tomato sauce
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
3 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons soy sauce ( I use light Kikoman )
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 garlic , clove finely minced or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
3 scallions , thinly sliced on an angle ( green onions )
6 rolls

Instructions

1.Brown the ground turkey in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up any clumps with a wooden spoon.
2.In a small bowl, whisk together the tomato sauce, hoisin sauce, water, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
3.Pour the sauce over the ground turkey and stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4.While the turkey is cooking, preheat the oven to 350°F and slice the rolls in half horizontally.
5.Place the rolls cut-side-up on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven until lightly golden, about 5 minutes.
6.Spoon the cooked turkey mixture onto the bottom halves of the rolls, then top with sliced scallions. Replace the top of the roll and serve immediately.
