Ingredients

1/3 cup white sugar
1 cup milk
1/4 cup softened butter
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 egg , beaten

Instructions

1.Warm the milk in a small saucepan over low heat.
2.Add the sugar and butter to the saucepan and whisk until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved.
3.Remove the saucepan from heat.
4.Sprinkle the yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for 5 minutes.
5.In a large bowl, mix the flour and egg together.
6.Add the milk mixture to the flour and egg mixture and mix until well combined.
7.Knead the dough on a floured surface until it's smooth and elastic.
8.Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a wet towel.
9.Allow the dough to rest for an hour until it doubles in size.
10.In another bowl mix softened butter, sugar, nonfat milk powder and flour, and grated coconut. Make sure it’s smooth.
11.Divide the dough into 12 pieces and form into small balls.
12.Roll each piece out to 1/4 thickness
13.Place a spoonful of the coconut mixture in the middle of each piece of dough and fold the edges up into your palm to form a ball.
14.Place each ball onto a baking sheet at least 2 inches apart.
15.Let them rest for 30 mins.
16.Preheat your oven to 400F degree.
17.Brush the beaten egg over the cocktail buns, sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each cocktail bun.
18.Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden.

PROS

These buns are sweet, chewy, and have a unique texture thanks to the grated coconut.

CONS

These buns contain a lot of sugar and are not suitable for people who are watching their sugar intake or following a low-carb diet.
